The Opportunity
At Monumental Sports & Entertainment, artist gifting became more than a hospitality gesture. It was an opportunity to create personalized experiences that deepened relationships with artists, generated authentic social content, and reinforced our venues as destinations that celebrate creativity and fandom.
The Strategy
For each artist, I developed a gift concept inspired by their music, style, or personal interests. Rather than relying on standard merchandise, I partnered with local artisans, designers, and small businesses to create one-of-a-kind pieces that felt thoughtful, authentic, and worthy of sharing.
Each gift was designed to tell a story while celebrating both the artist and the Washington, D.C. community. From custom cowboy boots for Kelsea Ballerini and a Capitals jersey for Tate McRae to hand-painted jackets for Florence + The Machine, sneakers for Playboi Carti, and immersive backstage experiences like Laufey's Library, every activation was tailored to the artist's identity and created with social sharing in mind.
The Results
The artist gifting program consistently generated organic visibility and strengthened relationships with artists, management teams, and promoters.
Highlights included:
Created personalized gifting experiences for dozens of nationally and internationally recognized artists.
Generated significant organic social content through artist posts, backstage photography, media coverage, and fan engagement.
Produced more than $350,000 in earned media value through influencer activations, artist partnerships, and content-driven storytelling.
Strengthened Monumental's reputation as a venue that delivers exceptional artist and fan experiences.
Built lasting relationships with promoters, artist teams, local businesses, and creative partners that continue to support future collaborations.
My Role
I led the strategy, creative development, and execution of the artist gifting program from concept through delivery. This included researching each artist, developing original creative concepts, sourcing and managing local vendors, overseeing production timelines and budgets, coordinating logistics with artist teams, and collaborating with social and communications teams to maximize earned media opportunities.
Why It Worked
The most successful gifts weren't simply memorable because they were custom. They reflected a genuine understanding of each artist and created moments that felt personal, authentic, and shareable. By combining thoughtful storytelling with handcrafted experiences, artist gifting became a powerful extension of our brand, generating goodwill, organic content, and lasting impressions that extended well beyond the performance itself.
